Giving Up - The Harder Choice

Giving up

is harder than it sounds. Most of the time when you think you have given up, you are probably just being lazy. Giving up is more than just being lazy. Giving up is making a firm choice. Giving up is deciding that you will no longer be hindered by an excuse and you will move on.

When you give up, you have fewer excuses.

Sometimes, we follow through with something because we are scared to give up. We are scared to lose a part of us even if that part of us does not provide us with satisfaction and fulfillment. We do not want to dive into the cold pool. We do not want to step outside into the uncertainty.

We hang on to our excuse.

"I am so done."
"I am tired."
"I will rest a little bit."
"I still have tomorrow to do it."
"I didn't want it that much anyways."

We constantly make excuses to justify our laziness. Instead of following through with a challenge, we think we "give up," but we are actually cowering before difficulty. We stop doing something because it is too hard and we don't want to do it.

But giving up is more than that.

Giving up is facing consequences.
Giving up is accepting that we do not want what we actually want.

Giving up is being decisive.
Giving up is acting out your choice without any regret.

Giving up is moving on.
Giving up is believing that you can reach your dreams elsewhere.

Giving up is trying harder.
Giving up is compensating for your loss with tireless work.

Giving up is forgetting.
Giving up is letting go of your once heartfelt dreams.

Never give up.

When giving up is easy, we always give up. When giving up is hard, we do not give up. Giving up is not a whim. Giving up is a resolute decision. Once you give up, you can never go back.

Do not give up. Giving up is harder than you think. Keep going!
